After working for major national civil and building contractors, Paul established Beardwell Construction in 1986. Under his leadership the company has grown from a small specialist subcontractor to become the successful and highly regarded business it is today. Paul developed many of relationships with key customers that still exist today and continues to take an active role in the business as Chairman of the Board. In particular he leads the Pre-construction activities of the company.

Duncan joined Beardwell Construction in 2012 having previously worked as a Director for a number of major UK construction companies. Duncan has many years’ experience of various forms of construction both in the UK and abroad and has led teams’ successfully designing and delivering projects in a variety of sectors. As Managing Director, he oversees the day to day operations of the company with particular regard to frameworks, business systems, continuous improvement, training and development.

After working for two major national contractors as project quantity surveyor involved in multi million building and civil engineering contracts, Alex joined Beardwell in 1998 as Commercial Manager. Promoted to Commercial Director in 2003, he applies his commercial, organisational, communication and project management skills to the management of the commercial team including project quantity surveyors, procurement and finance.

Having spent 10 years working for one of the leading law firms in London, Sue joined Beardwell in 1997 as Finance Manager and Company Secretary.

Sue’s role takes on many responsibilities; predominately she is responsible for the company’s finances together with ensuring all legal and statutory requirements are dealt with timely and efficiently. Her exceptional skills and attention to detail ensure all company administration matters are professionally managed allowing the Directors to undertake core construction processes. Other responsibilities include Payroll, HR, IT and Communications.

A time served carpenter Bill was invited to join our management team in 2000. His wealth of experience and knowledge is a real asset to our Company an attribute we are only too pleased to share with our Clients. Bill’s expertise in coordinating the construction processes underpinned by his excellent communication skills together with his technical knowhow, focus on quality and detail ensures delivery of high quality projects to often demanding timescales. Brigita has a strong belief the importance of team work. Her unrivalled enthusiasm for construction is key to motivating others around her. Total client satisfaction is top of her agenda and she will go the extra mile to ensure targets are met. Her organisational skills and attention to detail sets her apart. Joining Beardwell in 2011 her talent was soon spotted and she has risen quickly through the ranks managing some of the Company’s most prestigious projects. Brigita is our Company champion for the Considerate Contractors Scheme and has been instrumental in driving up scores which are now regularly in the upper quatertile. She regularly partakes in Suffolk County Councils ‘Ladies in Property’ an organisation promoting opportunities for young women in construction. With a zero tolerance for second best Clients can be assured they are engaging a professional construction manager whose sole focus is on a quality build within time and budget constraints.

After leaving school James spent five years in a construction management role working for two UK national building contractors on prestigious projects in the City of London whilst studying for a degree part-time. On joining Beardwell in 2011 James decided to take the opportunity and move into a commercial role within the QS department. His early experiences as a construction manager give him a good background and understanding of the construction process. James is keen to be a key member of the construction team and is committed to playing his part in successfully delivering each project.

Adam Kirby

Adam is a Quantity Surveyor with considerable commercial knowledge gained through a varied career within the construction industry developed whilst working for contractors both here in the UK and abroad. With a focus on the commercial aspect of the project Adam provides professional cost advice at every stage of the project taking a lead role in procurement, value management and cost control. Whilst working for Beardwell Adam has managed the commercial duties for some high quality projects including refurbishment and new build projects. An integral part of the construction team Adam’s objectives are always to procure quality sub-contractors in a timely manner to meet the demands of the programme, manage cost and value effectively and efficiently and provide clear and concise financial reporting .

Gavin Salmon

SHEQ Manager

Gavin has 25 years+ experience in the petrochemical and construction industries.
He is a industry qualified Health and Safety practitioner achieving a NVQ 5 Diploma in occupational Health and Safety and NEBOSH General and Construction certificates. Gavin is also a member of IOSH at Graduate level.
He has a practical and realistic view towards HSE, with the ultimate goal of achieving zero accidents/incidents on site and causing no harm to the environment.
Gavin’s responsibilities include supporting BCL staff on Health, Safety and Environmental issues, to improve the overall corporate image of the company and raise further the already high standard of Health and Safety on site and in the office.
