This project was given the ‘go ahead’ at the last minute and there was little time to procure through a single stage process given the three week notice to commence works. Beardwell Construction was appointed after successfully competing for the enabling works.

The works comprised reconfiguration and fit out of two separate ground floor wings known as Physics level 3.

The West side accommodated the Universities media centre and the East side was occupied by a research department using sensitive laboratory equipment.

Following the initial strip out demolition and structural alterations the works comprised a refit of the two wings including an extensive upgrade to the electrical, data mechanical heating and ventilation installations. New interactive audio visual equipment provide a state of the art teaching and learning facility for students.

The external works to the courtyard included new timber decking, a new 135m2 sun shade/canopy and landscaping.

The challenging 16 week programme was completed on time and delivered to budget demonstrating Beardwell’s capabilities in achieving ambitious client targets by adopting our strong collaborative working principles.
