As part of our Turning 40 Series, we’re excited to introduce one of Beardwell’s ‘rising stars’ – apprentice Will Grout.
Will began his journey at Cambridge Regional College before progressing to university to study Product Design. After completing his degree, he attended a careers fair where he discovered the world of construction and soon enrolled on a Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Construction.
Alongside his studies, Will began searching for his first role in the industry. That search led him to Beardwell — and we’re delighted to say he was successful. Will joined us in January 2024 as a Construction Management Trainee, beginning his journey by shadowing colleagues, reviewing technical drawings, continuing his university work, and gaining hands‑on experience across all internal departments.
Will shared that shadowing our long‑standing team members has been “incredibly valuable,” giving him both knowledge and confidence thanks to the willingness of everyone to offer support and guidance.
With mentoring from Glen Smith and Graeme Pheby, Will says he has built “far more confidence and experience than I ever expected and looking forward to the future.”
Will’s dedication, determination, and willingness to learn have been clear from day one — and his hard work has already been recognised with an award. “Award” A truly rising star in the making.
We’re proud to have Will as part of the Beardwell team and look forward to seeing where his journey takes him next.
