Mr Lillie Opens St Georges Student Library Project

Students at St Georges CofE School in Gravesend have completed a 3-week placement where they carried out a light refurbishment of their library. After some initial training, the Year 10 and 12 students completed tasks such as planning the work, preparing RAMS and ordering of materials. They finished the project by decorating the library both inside and out.

The project introduced the students to a workplace environment and skills such as communication and attention to detail. It also enabled them to work by themselves but also as part of a team. Head of School, Matthew Lillie, performed the grand opening to great applause for a job well done. Three students who produced the best field report and showed the most enthusiasm, were rewarded with Bluewater Vouchers.

Our Site Manager, Prince, supervised the work whilst Contract Managers Brigita and Sonya kept the project on track providing motivation and support. Special thanks also go to our supply chain partners, Laser Electrical and LD&C, who gave up their time to provide briefings and instructions.

Feedback was given by all those involved and included: “I really enjoyed working with Beardwell. The supervisors were friendly and kept us working to our full potential. Thank you.”
